With day-to-day changes in the advice coming from Federal and State governments in Australia regarding the Coronavirus pandemic, here is the most recent available information on travel restrictions:

  • Nobody may enter Australia except Australian citizens, permanent residents, or their immediate family members. New Zealand citizens who usually reside in Australia are also exempt.
  • Anyone permitted to arrive in Australia is required to self-isolate for 14 days, either at home or in a hotel. You may board an additional domestic flight to do so
  • Four states or territories - South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory - have closed their borders to travellers from other states. Anyone entering these states will be required to self-isolate for 14 days.
  • Visa holders in Australia must apply for a new visa before their current visa expires. You may be eligible for a bridging visa that allows you to remain here until a decision is made on your visa application.

If you are concerned about how this crisis affects your current or future status in Australia, please contact us for professional advice.
